Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme participant Bulou Talatoka has found a second family at BlueCare’s Carbrook Wirunya Aged Care Facility.

Bulou came to Australia from Fiji under the PALM Scheme, which helps fill labour gaps in rural and regional Australia.

“I love working with the elderly because I miss my family back at home and I treat them like my own family here in Australia,” she says.

And Bulou, who works as a personal carer, has been surprised at how much she has learned.

“I thought I’d only come to BlueCare as a carer, but I have learned a lot of things – especially in associating with the residents and my co-workers. So that’s why I love BlueCare very much – there’s something different, always.”

She has also stretched her wings to appear in BlueCare’s most recent ad campaign, including joining the chorus of care to sing the theme song, As the days go by. See the behind-the-scenes video below.

“I love singing, because I used to sing back in Fiji, especially in church. It’s good. I love working here.”
