A new way to deliver care

The Australian Government has announced major reforms in aged care, committing $5.6 billion to improve the quality and accessibility of services for older Australians. Whether you receive care at home or in a residential setting, these changes aim to provide better support tailored to your needs and we are committed to keeping you informed about what these changes mean for you.

What is changing

Support at Home
will replace Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-term Restorative Care (STRC).

Up to $78,000 per year provided for support at home packages.

100% of clinical care services
paid for by Government.

No 'worse-off' principle
will apply to existing aged care clients (at home or in aged care home).

New client contributions will be based on means testing and personal circumstances.

When it will change

Phase 1 will replace Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care and is planned for launch on 1 July 2025. Phase 2 will transition the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and is expected no earlier than 1 July 2027.
