Residents enjoy their new household at Sunrise Beach
When the COVID pandemic shut down most of the country in 2021, BlueCare Sunrise Beach resident Vivien Lee made the big move from Victoria to live with her daughter Caroline in Queensland.
“I was travelling back to Victoria for work and staying with Mum, but once it looked like the borders were closing, my husband said you’re going to have to bring your mum back,’’ Caroline recalls.
What was initially a short visit turned into three and a half years. “It took a load off my mind when I moved into Sunrise Beach so Caroline and Jeff could have the house to themselves,’’ Vivien says.
“I love it here. The staff are great and so are the people in my house. Chef Adam always take care of my dietary needs.”
Caroline agrees, adding that the home’s proximity has been a blessing. “When Sunrise was being built, we lived around the corner and thought it would be really convenient if Mum was here as I was only a couple of minutes away.”
Caroline also appreciates the layout of the facility. “I love the format of the separate houses, homes within a home, and eight or so rooms in each house. They have their own cook, living area, dining room and kitchen. It’s a friendly, homely environment.”
Located on Queensland’s picturesque Sunshine Coast, BlueCare’s Sunrise Beach offers residents a premium lifestyle with 247/ access to a registered nurse and dedicated care companions to provide personalised support.
Dining is a highlight at Sunrise Beach
For many older people, food is an essential part of life’s enjoyment, and Sunrise Beach offers a wealth of options.
Helmed by head chef Adam, the facility’s kitchen serves three main protein options and 12 recommendations giving residents 15 daily choices for lunch and dinner. In addition, salads, fruits and the option to enjoy wine or beer with meals adds to the dining experience.
"It keeps us busy, but it's all about giving residents as much choice as possible," says Adam. He adds, "We only use fresh ingredients and aim to create that restaurant feel at home."
Resort-style living at Sunrise Beach
For former baker and Noosa Pie Shop owner Rod, Sunrise Beach has brought him peace of mind. "I love it," he says. "It's like a resort." Rod attended one of Sunrise Beach's open days and was immediately drawn to the atmosphere.
“I don’t call it aged care. I call it a resort – three meals a day, wine with our meals, different activities, and we’ve even got a full-time barista. There’s a hairdresser, chapel, a library and areas where we can sit and read. It’s just a wonderful place to be.”
“The people I’ve met since I’ve been here are really wonderful.”
