Edna Celebrates Her 103rd Birthday

Edna Howes celebrated her 103^rd birthday at BlueCare Mt Gravatt Respite Centre surrounded by family, friends and BlueCare staff on Wednesday 7 September 2016.

Edna has two children, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and enjoyed a happy marriage to husband Allan for 66 years before he passed away in 2003.

BlueCare Mt Gravatt Respite Centre Manager, Ms Debbie Williams said they were delighted to celebrate this important milestone with Edna.

"Edna joined our service in 1998 and is our longest attending client. She has developed many special friendships over that time and is described as inspirational to all who know her," said Ms Williams.

"Enda’s family is also very involved with our service with daughter Pam working as our volunteer driver and granddaughter Fiona as our volunteer coordinator for the Northside.

"Edna continues to be active and loves to travel, knit and read. She also enjoys a special friendship with her loyal little dog Honey," she said.

A special lunch was held for Edna at BlueCare Mt Gravatt Respite Centre.

BlueCare Mt Gravatt Respite Centre provides quality care to clients through services including respite and individual and group social activities.

BlueCare Mt Gravatt Respite Centre is located at 1541 Logan Road, Mt Gravatt.
